The Liebster Award

liebster2The Liebster Award is given to bloggers by bloggers to recognize awesome blogs, get to know others in the blogger community, and follow new blogs! I have to give a huge thank you to Cilla @ Paved with Books for nominating me. Cilla is a great supporter and friend of this blog and you should absolutely check her out. I’ve never been nominated for any kind of blogging-anything so I’m very excited about this!

Rules:

1) Thank the blog who nominated you and link back to them.
2) Nominate up to 11 other bloggers to receive the award.  To be eligible, they need to have 200 followers or less.
3) Answer 11 questions from the blogger who nominated you.
4) Tell your readers 11 random facts about yourself.
5) Give your nominees 11 questions to answer on their blog when they post their nomination.

My answers to Cilla @Paved with Books questions:

1. What 3 books are on your must-read list for 2016?

I really want to read The Queen of the Tearling by Erica Johansen – I can never find it at Half Price Books. I also need the second in Elena Ferrante’s Neapolitan novels series, The Story of a New Name.

2. If you had to eat the same food every day, what would you choose?

Cookies. I could definitely eat cookies everyday.

3. What is your favorite thing about blogging?

I just really love writing. Putting into words how I felt about a book has been great and really helped me to understand…how I felt about a book. If that makes sense…

4. Which do you prefer: tablet or laptop?

Laptop for blogging. It would take me a million years to write a post on my iPad touch screen. iPad for general internet browsing though.

5. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you go?

My dream place is Italy. If I could go anywhere in the world, I’d go there.

5. Noodles or rice?

Rice.

6. What book do you always recommend to everyone?

I always recommend John Green and Rainbow Rowell.

7. Do you have a favorite Disney movie?

Oh gosh. I mean I love them all but my favorite is probably Beauty and the Best. He loves her so much he lets her go even though he knows he needs her! Ahhh! It gets me every time. Plus, Cogsworth and Lumiere – dream team.

8. What is your comfort food?

Anything chocolate, ice cream, cookie related. Also, french fries. I can’t not eat french fries.

9. What is your favorite quote?

Favorites are hard to pick. I love:

  1. “I fell in love the way you fall asleep; slowly, and then all at once” from TFioS because it is oh so pretty.
  2. From The Scarlet Letter, paraphrased a bit – “It is to the credit of human nature, that…it loves more readily than it hates”
  3. I’m a big fan of Matthew 6:34 as well: “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble”

10. What’s the one book you would never, ever, read?

Hmmm, never is a strong word but I honestly have no interest in reading Ayn Rand’s The Fountainhead. I probably won’t read Go Set a Watchman either because I love To Kill a Mockingbird too much and also the publishing of it seems a little shady.

11. What’s the most important thing you’ve learned about blogging so far?

I’ve learned not to be too hard on myself and not to try to imitate other bloggers’ style. There are other bloggers that I WISH I could write like, they’re so concise and their critical discussion is so insightful. But I’ve learned that I have to write in my own voice otherwise 1) nothing will ever get written and 2) if I don’t, it just doesn’t read authentically.

11 Random Facts About Me

1) I was in a Ranch Style Beans commercial when I was a child.

2) I’ve known my best and oldest friend for 25 years.

3) I took ballet for 12 years.

4) My mom and I go to the ballet at least once a year. We have lunch and then head to the performance, its always such a great date.

5) Sweet Boyfriend and I have been together for almost FIVE YEARS. Which is crazy and great.

6) I got Lasik eye surgery and it was the best money I ever spent. Highly recommended.

7) I love sports but I’m bad at all of them. I love watching football and golf. Golf is so soothing.

8) I was Maid of Honor in my 2 best friends weddings. And they got married exactly 4 weeks apart from each other. It was amazing and a very busy summer.

9) I am attempting to learn conversational French.

10) I taught myself to knit.

11) If I won the lottery, I would quit my day job and become a librarian.

  1. This is so fun to read! Good luck with conversational French, Alyson, and I once learned to knit but didn’t really have the patience for it haha. Beauty and the Beast is my all-time favourite Disney movie too! Cogsworth and Lumiere are the best sidekicks, I think. 😀

    1. My knitting skills have since fallen to the wayside. I enjoyed it but I can’t read and knit at the same time and I always choose reading over knitting 🙂 I used your questions for my nominees cause they were just so good. It wasn’t laziness, I promise!
