Anne of Green Gables was written in 1908 by Lucy Maud Montgomery and made LM Montgomery Canadian literature (and really just all-around literature) ROYALTY.
So, this isn’t actually a book report because likely everyone has already read Anne of Green Gables. This was, however, my first reading and I’m sure the good ladies at The Book Wars would cringe to know it.
But! I righted my wrongs and am officially in love with Anne Shirley, the
precocious, sweet, daring, gentle, loving, dramatic and charming heroine at the center of the story. Anne is adopted by Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert, brother and sister team extraordinaire. They actually request a boy orphan but they end up with Anne and she is exactly the person they need in their lives. Anne gets into so many scrapes and adventures plus her relationship with Marilla is so loving and flat out funny. So many times in this book did Anne make me laugh out loud. So, yeah, if you haven’t read this classic, you need to. Like today.
Also, I thought you’d be interested to know that Professor Ellie-pup thoroughly enjoyed her reading of the novel. She is much like Anne in her trouble-making ways.
