Top Ten Thursday….

I was so absorbed in trying to write a worthy report on The Days of Abandonment that I completely forgot about Top Ten Tuesday! But, I love TTT posts so I figured why not just post it on a Thursday when the acronym still holds…

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme that was started by The Broke and The Bookish.

July 30: Ten Characters Who Are Fellow Book Nerds

1) Hermione Granger, Harry Potter Series: I mean, right? In my opinion, Hermione is the true hero in the series – a strong, intelligent person who uses knowledge and understanding to help save the world.

2) AJ Fikry, The Storied Life of AJ Fikry: AJ Fikry owns a bookstore on a small island and is my favorite kind of book lover. Well read, a little grumpy and ultimately a heartbreakingly good person.

3) Daniel, The Shadow of the Wind: Daniel is a young boy when his father takes him to the “cemetery of lost books” where he is allowed to pick one book from the shelves. And the book he picks is one the Devil is after. Literally. If you haven’t read Carlos Ruiz Zafrón, you need to. Beautiful, lyrical writing combined with a total adventure – it is so fun.

4) Leisl Meminger, The Book Thief: Leisl loves books and they are how and why she is able to survive World War II. The Book Thief is one of my all-time favorite books and I think any lover of books would see themselves in Leisl.

5) Blue Van Meer, Special Topics in Calamity Physics:  Blue’s father is a professor and her whole life has revolved around books and learning. Her story is set up as a syllabus and each chapter is titled after a book that is important to Blue and conveys her message for that chapter. Plus, I really wanted to present you the beautiful Swedish cover of this book…

6) Cath, Fangirl: Cath is such a book nerd! Her love for the Simon Snow series is practically all-consuming and she writes her own incredibly popular fanfiction.

That’s only 6 and I’m sure there are lots of fantastic book nerds that I couldn’t recall. Who did you put on your list?

    1. Hey Anjie! Thanks for stopping by. I’m glad you liked the list. There are so many great characters that I forgot too. It’s hard to some up with an exhaustive list which is why I think it is so fun seeing what everyone else comes up with. That’s my favorite part of TTT posts. – Alyson
